Excerpt from The Bradford Era Wednesday, May 27, 2009 9:29 PM EDT
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Era looks for community’s help for Community Tales & Treasures project
There are treasures all around us — some hidden, some not. They are the people we see, the places we go and the things we cherish.
The Bradford Era is currently working on a series of projects that will not work if we don’t have your involvement. These special editions — called Community Tales & Treasures — will be completely reader driven and influenced.
That’s where you — The Era readers — come in. We want to know what you know. We want to know what you treasure in our coverage area — McKean, Potter, Cameron and Elk counties.
It may be that special someone who is particularly kind that you would like to let people know about. How about that place you treasure that you wouldn’t mind sharing with Era readers?
It may be a story that you think needs to be told and hasn’t. It’s all up to you.
We want to hear from the little ones, too. What do you cherish in our region, who is your favorite teacher and why, or how do you plan to spend your summer vacation?
Is there a particular memory you’d like to share? Send that along, too. In a time when it seems like all of the news is bad, here is a chance to put a spotlight on what is good, what you treasure.
You can submit stories or photos.
If you prefer not to do the writing, you can contact Sandra Rhodes, special sections editor, and she could do the writing for you.
Here’s what we need: your contact information, including phone number or e-mail; your story or story idea and any photos.
You can send your suggestions or submissions to eraspecialsections@gmail.com or mail or drop them off at The Bradford Era, c/o Community Tales & Treasures, 43 Main St., Bradford, PA 16701.
Submissions must be received by June 9. The Era reserves the right to edit the material submitted. Anything libelous will not be considered or used.
Remember — we want to hear from you. We want to hear and write about what is good about this area and its people. Tell us what and who you treasure. If you think there’s a story out there that needs to be told, it’s now up to you to let us know.
What tale do you have to share? Who do you treasure?

RTS for Friday, May 22, 2009.
. .
We also heard from Suzie Hartman Miller of St.
Petersburg, Fla., who has written to us before about
collecting information on the former Lincoln School.
She writes, “While everyone is caught up in the
wonderful nostalgia of the Tastee Freeze, Market Basket
and Evans’ Roller Rink, let’s go a little further out
East Main and send me some of your memories of Lincoln
School. I’m still getting some great feedback, but I
know there are many more of you out there that have
great stories. It doesn’t matter what year you attended
or if you were just the parent of a child who attended
there.”
“I also need to have someone give me a good
background/history of the school from the time it was
built and why, to the closing, for a special page in the
book. Any volunteer researchers out there? This might be
a good student (summer vacation) project. Or maybe there
are some retirees out there who would like to give me
some input by researching in at the library.”
Suzie will be in Bradford from July 22-26 for BAHS’s
40-year reunion. “I can collect your written data then
if you let me know how to get in touch with you,” she
writes. Her e-mail is smiller112251@yahoo.com. Memories
and photos can be sent to her at 480 25th Avenue North,
St. Petersburg, Fla., 33704.
“Thank you so much and I can’t wait to see Bradford
again!” she writes. |

Watch your actions;

Anyone want to
share their stories with Larry?
Quoted from 'Another Era' in
The
Bradford Era on Friday October 13, 2008:
. . .“I am so pleased
that with the start of
our 50th reunion, 1958
football team at St.
Bernard, that it has
encouraged others to be
reminded of their
football days in
Bradford. I wish to
thank all of those who
have come up with these
wonderful memories and
to write them down and
have them ready for a
possible publishing of a
book which I would like
to put together.
“So with all the
memories from everyone
please send them to me (lvecellio@bellsouth.net)
or at my address, 715
Park Creek Ct.,
Gainesville, Ga. 30504,
and I will do my best to
put it all together.
Send pictures, copies of
clippings, stories in
your own words.
“Let’s go with any year,
any school. This will be
great reading one day
next year, I hope." . .
